Last month, NXplorers trainers Rob and Charlotte travelled to the Shell offices in Manila to conduct comprehensive Training of Trainer training. Over three intensive days, they delivered the entire Shell NXplorers Senior course to 22 volunteers, including representatives from PFSI and other Shell partner organisations. Participants were actively involved, delivering NXplorers tools and activities themselves, whilst receiving constructive feedback from both the facilitators and their peers.

The course brought together participants from a variety of backgrounds, each contributing their own unique perspectives and ideas. This blend of experiences created a dynamic learning environment, setting the foundation for developing future Shell NXplorers programme leaders.

Throughout the Training of Trainer training, groups worked together to create innovative solutions to problems throughout the country. Among these innovations were:

• Ways to support parents in providing healthier, more nutritious meals for their children.
• A campaign to inspire young people in the Philippines to pursue a career in farming, due to a shortage of farmers.
• A project aimed at combating frequent power outages and exploring practical solutions to reduce their impact.

Since the course, all participants reported feeling well prepared and confident to deliver Shell NXplorers to schools.

Every participant agreed that the training improved their understanding of systems thinking, scenario planning and theory of change, as well as improving their facilitation skills and ability to deliver experiential activities. They will now continue their Shell NXplorers trainer journeys by stepping into the classroom.
